By Daryl Plaza
If you are considering installing vinyl wood flooring in your baby nursery, there are many safety tips that you should be aware of. You will be spending a lot of time in the new baby nursery, and your new baby will too! Many parents simply do not stop to consider the possible consequences of installing certain types of flooring in the nursery before they do so.
They may consider the costs, the color, or the style – but the concept of “safety” just is not in the equation. In this guide, I hope to alert many new parents to the safety considerations associated with flooring types used in nurseries.
As an expectant parent, there are many new and exciting things to anticipate when it comes to having a new addition to the family. You are looking forward to knowing whether or not you will be having a boy or a girl, picking out the names that you like for the child, purchasing all the odds and ends like the baby crib, the carrier, the car seat, the stroller, the layettes, the diapers, and a whole list of other things.
You are probably also cleaning out that spare room so that you can paint it, add all the gadgets, and call it a nursery too! The last thing on your mind is the safety associated with the type of flooring. However, if you are considering vinyl wood type flooring, then safety should be a large concern.
The first thing that you want to make certain of is that you avoid super waxing the floor. This can cause it to be really slick, which results in it being too slippery. When the baby comes, you will find that you are often walking the baby around in the nursery during feedings, to burp them, or just to comfort them.
This means that you could easily slip and fall if you are not careful. In addition to this, you must consider the fact that one day your baby will be large enough to crawl around and even try to walk on the flooring.
If you have taken the time to wax it a lot, then the baby may even slip and get hurt! The next thing you want to be careful of is placing furniture in the room that has wheels. If you elect to do this, be sure to have some wheel guards so that the piece doesn’t move and result in injury to the new family member! Consider the safety of you, and your new baby when choosing to use vinyl wood flooring!
