- Carpet

As people hauling and dragging heavy objects across its surface all the time makes this flooring not a good idea for basement but if the basement is often used for storing relatively small objects that do not need to be dragged along then carpeting is an option to soften the look of the basement. For houses in hotter environment this type of flooring it’s inapplicability since the basements are naturally hot and the trapped heat in basements is what causes the air humidity in them.
